In 2019, a Brookfield man pleaded guilty to charges of possessing child pornography. He was sentenced to five years of community control with the Adult Probation Department after being charged with 20 counts of pandering sexually oriented material and illegally using a minor in nudity-oriented material.

Now, that same man, 49-year-old Daniel Scharmer, has been federally indicted on two counts: receipt and distribution of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and possession of child pornography in the Northern District of Ohio Court in Youngstown on Thursday.

The Secret Indictment was unsealed on April 30.

Scharmer, who lists himself as a self-employed worship leader, retail and transportation worker on his LinkedIn page, was arrested on May 1 and pleaded not guilty to the two counts in Magistrate Judge Carmen Henderson's courtroom Thursday.

21 News was at a home listed as belonging to Scharmer in January when officers removed items from the house during a raid.

The judge ordered Scharmer held until his detention hearing, which is scheduled for May 9 at 1:30 pm.
