The 910th Security Forces Squadron at Youngstown Air Reserve Station has been named the 2024 Department of the Air Force Security Forces Air Reserve Component Unit of the Year.

Brig. Gen. Brian A. Filler announced the award recognizing the unit's significant contributions to base defense.

The squadron is responsible for the security of the station's C-130 cargo aircraft and all personnel assigned to the 910th Airlift Wing and tenant organizations. Its global mission includes training and deploying Defender Airmen for contingency operations worldwide. The unit also provides combat arms training, law enforcement patrols, criminal investigations, close-in security, and resource protection for the installation.

The annual award honors exceptional security forces units within the Air Force Reserve that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in mission support, air base ground defense operations, and overall impact on security.

This marks the second time the 910th Security Forces Squadron has received this recognition, having previously won the award in 2021.
