Youngstown State University celebrated its new partnership with local food service provider AVI Fresh with a ribbon cutting Monday.
The Warren-based food service provider company is YSU's new partner for campus dining. AVI Fresh will take over all campus culinary and hospitality services.
The move to partner with AVI Fresh follows the university's decision to not renew its contract with its former food service partner Chartwells.
AVI is planning several enhancements to the university's food service including satellite retail cafes in Cushwa Hall, Williamson Hall and Maag Library. There's also plans for a new self-service convenient market at the Meshel Hall Bridge and GrubHub integrated food lockers.
A temporary food court is being set up while the Kilcawley Center undergoes renovations. It will include Top & Toast Flatbreads, Be Bowl'd and Stack'd. There will also be a Dunkin' kiosk and a YSU-branded mobile kitchen called Smoke & Fire.
