Crash in Youngstown cuts off power to surrounding area

Responders were called to a crash at the intersection of Oakwood and Hazelwood in Youngstown.

A picture taken by a 21 News videographer at the scene shows that a traffic light above the area has no power.

FirstEnergy reports that there are 237 power outages in Youngstown as of 11:30 a.m.

As of 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 16 outages remain that have an estimated restoration time of 2 p.m.

FirstEnergy had no further outages to the area of Youngstown as of 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to Youngstown Police, the accident was caused when one of the vehicles involved ran a red light, hitting the second vehicle involved and pushing it into a telephone pole.

Police report that a road sign is down in the area.

Several people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries according to the police.
