A man who recently pled guilty to forging a victim's signature on a check for nearly $3,000 learned his fate on Tuesday.
A bailiff at Judge Sarah Kovoor's court tells 21 News 53-year-old Charles Zimmerman was sentenced to 18 months in prison on charges of forgery and theft from a protected class.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Liberty Township in April of 2024 when a woman was contacted by her bank notifying her that her account was overdrawn and a check was written out for $2,841.
That check was made out to Zimmerman, who must now pay that $2,841 back to the woman.
This is not Zimmerman's first run-in with the law though. Zimmerman had previously been convicted of a roofing scam in Springfield Township in Mahoning County and is currently accused of a similar scam in Austintown.
The Austintown case is still pending with Zimmerman's next hearing set to take place June 24.
