The Ohio Parole Board has denied parole for a man serving an 18-year-to-life prison term.
Roy Green, 72, appeared before the board panel on April 1 for a hearing on release consideration.
Green was sentenced in 1995 after pleading guilty to murder with a firearm specification, abuse of a corpse and receiving stolen property in connection to the December 1994 shotgun death of Devin Griffin of Warren.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, Green killed Griffin inside his Bellcrest Avenue SE garage with a shotgun.
Prosecuting Attorney Dennis Watkins prosecuted Green's case. He says that among the other dismemberment cases he has prosecuted throughout his career, Green may hold the record for the number of body parts.
According to Watkins," Green used a shotgun, ax and knife to kill and destroy a human being."
Watkins noted that Green's son, Ray Morgan, is one of several family members who fear his release from the prison system.
Morgan is noted as a key eyewitness in Green's murder case. According to evidence presented, Green enlisted the help of Morgan to dump trash bags containing body parts in a wooded area and a shallow pond in 1994.
The parole board decided to continue Green's case for parole for five years.
Green will be seen again by the state parole board in February of 2030.
