Igloo Products Corp. has expanded its recall of 90-quart rolling coolers due to a continued risk of fingertip amputation and crushing hazards, the company and U.S. safety regulators announced Thursday.

The recall now includes an additional 130,000 coolers manufactured before January 2024, bringing the total number of recalled units to nearly 1.2 million. More than one million coolers were previously recalled in February.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the tow handle on the coolers can pinch users' fingertips against the cooler body.

Since the initial recall, Igloo has received 78 reports of fingertip injuries, including 26 resulting in amputations, bone fractures, or lacerations.

The expanded recall involves specific models of the Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Cooler. The recalled models and their manufacturing date codes, found on the bottom of the cooler, include:

The coolers have a tow handle and the word "IGLOO" printed on the side. They were sold at major retailers nationwide, including Costco, Target, Academy, and Dick’s, as well as online at Amazon.com and Igloocoolers.com, from January 2019 through January 2025 for between $80 and $140.

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled coolers and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle.

Igloo can be reached toll-free at 888-943-5182 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, by email at igloo90qt@sedgwick.com, or online at www.igloo90qtrecall.expertinquiry.com or http://www.igloocoolers.com by clicking on “Recall Information.”

The coolers were manufactured in the United States by Igloo Products Corp., based in Katy, Texas. Approximately 20,000 of the recalled coolers were also sold in Canada and about 5,900 in Mexico.
