Sharon woman charged after 2-year-old found wandering street alone

A Sharon woman is facing a felony charge of endangering the welfare of children after her 2-year-old son was found walking alone on a busy street, according to court documents.
Erica Renee Marie Bolden, 32, was charged following an incident on Wednesday. According to the police criminal complaint, a Sharon Police officer was dispatched around 1:37 p.m. to the area of South Irvine Avenue and Davis Street for a report of a young child wandering in the area.
The officer found a 2-year-old boy, walking southbound on South Irvine Avenue near Davis Street. The child was unable to communicate his name or address to the officer, only saying "no."
Police were able to locate the child's mother, Bolden, at her residence on South Irvine Avenue. Bolden reportedly told officers that she had fallen asleep and that her son must have left the residence while she was sleeping. She did not indicate how long the child had been gone before she woke up.
According to the complaint, South Irvine Avenue is a busy street that connects directly to Route 62, placing the child in potential danger of being struck by a vehicle or abducted.
An officer stated in the affidavit that there was sufficient cause to charge Bolden with endangering the welfare of children.
Bolden was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Travis P. Martwinski. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for June 18.
