The landscape of athletics is changing in the Youngstown City Schools starting in the 2026-27 school year.

Superintendent Jeremy Batchelor announced there will be one high school starting that year.

The high school, which will be at the current East building, will get a new name and mascot. School officials will meet with stake holders and the public to decide the new name.

It's the second time since 2011 Chaney athletics have been eliminated due to a revitalization plan. After a seven year absence they returned in 2019.
