A Mahoning County grand jury has indicted a woman arrested earlier this year following a raid at a Canfield business that authorities alleged was a front for prostitution.

According to court records, Shanshan Zhang, 36, was indicted on felony charges of promoting prostitution and possession of criminal tools, as well as a misdemeanor charge of soliciting.

The charges stem from a January 21 raid by Canfield Police and the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force at Harmony Foot Spa, located in the 400 block of West Main Street. The business had been open for approximately one week before the raid.

Authorities stated at the time of Zhang's arrest that she allegedly offered an undercover agent sex in exchange for money. Zhang was booked into the county jail on the day of the raid.

Court records indicate that a summons, along with a copy of the indictment, was issued to the Mahoning County Sheriff.

The indictment moves the case to the common pleas court level.

Promoting prostitution is a fourth-degree felony in Ohio, while possession of criminal tools is a fifth-degree felony. Soliciting is a third-degree misdemeanor.
