Youngstown police are investigating a reported shooting late Friday night on the city's east side.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Lansdowne Boulevard and Stewart Avenue around 11:30 p.m. after receiving a call about a shooting, according to a police report. While en route, authorities learned the potential victim was being transported to the hospital.

Responding officers canvassed the Lansdowne and Stewart area but found no immediate evidence of a shooting. However, police then shifted their focus to the area of East High Avenue after receiving information about a possible suspect walking in that vicinity.

On East High Avenue, officers discovered what appeared to be a crime scene in front of a residence. Investigators noted drops of blood, a single spent 9mm shell casing, and hair care products.

The resident of the East High Avenue home told police his girlfriend's daughter was getting her hair done with two other unknown females. He stated that an argument began, and he asked all three women to leave.

Approximately 30 to 60 minutes later, the resident reported hearing more arguing outside his home, possibly involving the same three females and an unknown male. He then heard one gunshot.

The resident could not provide officers with names or descriptions of anyone involved in the outdoor altercation, but speculated it was the same three women he had asked to leave earlier.

Detectives collected the shell casing as evidence.

The report did not identify a shooting victim or the extent of injuries.  21 News has reached out to the police and is waiting for more information.
