Explosives training being conducted near Newton Falls military base this week

The Ohio Army National Guard's 811th Engineer Company will be conducting explosives training near Camp James A. Garfield this week.

The media release states that the explosives training will help maintain engineer soldier's demolition skills and is an important part of military readiness.

The national guard is alerting those who live around or near the military camp of an increase in blast noise from these training sessions.

Camp James A. Garfield is a 21,000 acre national guard training site located in both Ravenna in Portage County and Newton Falls in Trumbull County.

This training will begin on Thursday, May 15 and will go on until Sunday, May 18.
