Animal Charity of Ohio is seeking donations after rescuing 56 cats from a severe hoarding situation.
The organization announced the rescue on Tuesday on its Facebook page, stating that the cats are now safe and receiving care at the shelter. The social media post did not reveal the location of the home where the animals were found.
Animal Charity of Ohio emphasized that hoarding often stems from underlying mental health issues and urged the public to recognize the signs. The organization encouraged anyone who suspects a neighbor, friend, or family member is struggling to care for a large number of animals to contact local animal welfare agencies, mental health services, or community support groups.
The shelter is requesting donations of specific items, including Purina Cat Chow (blue or green bags), clumping cat litter, medium or large-sized litter boxes, Feline Pine litter, small or medium Milkbone dog treats, soft dog treats, and Timothy hay.
Donations can be sent to Animal Charity of Ohio at 8469 Southern Blvd, Building 3, Boardman, Ohio 44512.
