Scrappers to celebrate local food traditions with special game nights

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers will spice up their summer schedule with three special game nights dedicated to beloved local food traditions.

Fans can look forward to a trio of unique experiences at Eastwood Field, celebrating Brier Hill pizza, cookie tables, and peppers in oil. Each night will feature a tasting contest, inviting the community to showcase their culinary skills.

The first food-themed night, set for Tuesday, July 8, will transform the Scrappers into the Mahoning Valley Cookie Tables. In partnership with the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau and Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries, the event will include a cookie tasting contest and a wedding expo. On Monday, August 4, the Scrappers will host a peppers in oil tasting competition. Teaming up with the Italian Food Trail, Trumbull County Tourism Bureau, and 21 WFMJ, the event will challenge local cooks to see if their recipe can handle the heat. The final food celebration will take place on Tuesday, August 5, as the team temporarily adopts the name Mahoning Valley Brier Hill Pizza. In collaboration with Foxconn and the United Way of Trumbull County, this night will feature a Brier Hill pizza tasting contest.
