The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and Office of State Inspector General have unveiled a new security feature for those receiving public benefits in PA.
Recipients of government assistance such as EBT now have the ability to digitally lock their benefits cards to prevent the theft of SNAP benefits.
"When someone's SNAP benefits are stolen from their EBT card, that means they may not be able to feed themselves or their families that month. That is unacceptable," said DHS Secretary Dr. Val Arkoosh. "We are proud to announce this new card lock safety feature that allows you to lock your EBT card when not in use to protect your SNAP and cash benefits from skimming and theft."
Pennsylvania residents can try the new feature out on the ConnectEBT app on their phones.
