New, upgraded playground equipment has just been installed at Packard Park in Warren and a new addition is in the process of being built.
Warren Safety Services Director Eddie Colbert tells 21 News that all of the playground equipment at Packard Park has been upgraded. The upgraded equipment has all been installed but is not ready for use just yet.
In addition to the upgraded equipment, Colbert says the playground's newest addition will be a bankshot court, which Colbert described as an area with smaller basketball hoops designed for younger children.
Colbert says these new installations will be an asset to the splash pad at the park.
The cost for these new upgrades and features is $205,000. Colbert says $180,000 of those coming from SEP funds and the other $25,000 coming from a Swanston grant.
Colbert told 21 News he hopes to have the upgraded playground and the bankshot court up and ready for use by Memorial Day, which is the same day the splash pad opens.
