More than 30 extraordinary women were recognized for contributions to their professional field and the local community at the 32nd Annual Athena Awards in Canfield.
The nominees are honored for their devotion and willingness to help other succeed.
While 33 women were nominated, only one was chosen to receive the award.
That was Darlene Jones, the CEO of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Northeast Ohio.
Jones told 21 News she was shocked to win and wanted to give credit to all the other women who were nominated.
"I'll accept this award on behalf of all of them because these are some amazing women doing incredible things in this community," Jones said.
Jones said giving back to the community is key and helps strengthen you and those around you.
