The goal of the free, family-friendly bike ride is to foster a healthier community. It supports "Building a Better Belmont" and promotes investing in bike-friendly infrastructure along Belmont Avenue.

Sunday's ride offers a 32-mile route from the B&O Station Banquet Hall to the Youngstown Warren Regional Airport. There's also a 12-mile, police-escorted ride between the B&O and Church Hill Commons. Rides this year will tour through historic neighborhoods through Youngstown's North Side and Liberty – meaning riders will avoid a steep incline on Belmont Avenue on the first trip.

Stops include the Churchill Giant Eagle on Belmont Avenue, where riders will get water and snacks. Riders who registered will also get a free lunch at the B&O. Electric bikes can be rented from YoGo BikeShare.

The event is sponsored by Jimmy's Italian Specialties, Out-Spokin' Wheelmen recreational cycling club, the city of Youngstown, Liberty Township, CycWard Bike Club and YoGo BikeShare.

The previous "Bike Belmont" attracted 200 riders – including trustees from Liberty Township, Youngstown's mayor and members of Youngstown City Council. This year, the event is expected to attract about 300 riders.
