A pet cat died in a house fire in Green Township while three dogs were endangered with one still under observation for smoke inhalation.

Shortly after 1 p.m. the Green Township Fire Department received a call about smoke coming from a home on S. Salem Warren Rd.

Once the fire crews arrived and began containing the blaze, another call was put out requesting animal welfare.

Along with county personnel, Diane Less, founder of Angels for Animals, arrived to provide support for the endangered pets.

According to Less all pets were accounted for with two of the larger dogs making it out of the home quickly with minimal issues.

However, the family's cat was found dead and the smaller chihuahua is currently struggling with smoke inhalation and is under observation by veterinarians from Angels for Animals.

Less offered the family her assistance with the immediate care of the dogs as well as the cremation and funeral services for the cat.
