Source: Insight Hospital and Medical Center plan on reopening ER department

During a meeting last week with Insight, union leaders learned about the company's goal of reopening the emergency department by June 1.

While discussions continue, some remain skeptical about staffing and functionality of the hospital.

One union representative said they were waiting for a list from Insight on which employees they wanted to hire back, but many of them have already found new jobs.

Another factor to consider is the medical equipment inside the hospital. Last month a judge ordered hospital leaders to return some equipment to Phillips Medical Capital, LLC. Another company has asked the judge for the same thing.

It is unclear what specific equipment will be returned to the company.

Trumbull County Commissioner Rick Hernandez raised concerns about Insight's plans moving forward.

"Are they going to have credit worthiness to be able to get this equipment? You know, you just don't open up shop and hope that, you know, you're going to be able to run an emergency center and have proper equipment and facilities to facilitate that." Hernandez said.

Trumbull County Commissioner Denny Malloy told 21 News that the plans were discussed last week, but nothing has been confirmed.

21 News reached out to Insight but have not heard back.
