A child from Warren has died and another child from Youngstown is severely injured following a crash in the Cleveland area on Sunday.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP), the crash happened just after 7 p.m. on Route 422 eastbound near Harper Road in Solon, which is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area.
Troopers say a Ford Escape operated by 29-year-old Benjamin Hoak of Warren went off the roadway, overcorrected, rolled over and struck a guard rail causing 10-year-old Max Davis of Warren to be thrown from the vehicle.
Davis was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Hoak, along with his passengers 34-year-old Holly Burnett of Warren and six-year-old Kayleigh Hoak of Youngstown were also taken to the hospital all with serious injuries.
Troopers say seat belts were not used at the time of the crash.
Troopers believe the driver of a black four-door sedan believed to either be a Subaru WRX or BMW driven by a middle-aged man with spiky gray hair witnessed this crash.
Troopers are asking anyone with information on the crash, the sedan or the person driving it to call 216-265-1677.
21 News recently reported about a fifth grade student in Warren who was killed in a car crash Sunday night, but a spokesperson for the district did not know the identity of the student or where the accident occurred.
We are actively working to determine whether or not Davis was the student involved.
