Detectives are trying to find out who splashed pancake syrup throughout a recently opened Boardman restaurant.

Police were called to the Valley Kitchen in the Huntington Plaza on Boardman-Canfield Road on Tuesday.

An employee told officers that she arrived at work around 6:45 a.m. to find that someone had poured syrup on all the tables, chairs, and windows, including underneath the tables in the outdoor patio area. The employee believed the act was an attempt to disrupt or damage the business.

The employee gave police the names of two former employees whom she believes may be responsible, including one whom she said sent her more than two dozen threatening text messages.

The employee provided screenshots of the text messages.
