A suspicious fire at an abandoned home lit up the sky over Youngstown's East Side early Friday, with firefighters reporting the structure was fully engulfed before it collapsed.

Fire crews responded to the blaze on Ridley Avenue just after 1 a.m., finding the vacant residence fully engulfed in flames, with fire erupting from the roof.

Authorities said power lines attached to the structure were sparking, though the gas line was not connected. Fire officials reported the home collapsed around 1:45 a.m. Firefighters initially allowed the blaze to burn down before fully extinguishing it. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and fire crews have deemed the incident suspicious.
