Salem, Columbiana collaborate to provide transportation to events in both cities

The cities of Salem and Columbiana have partnered on a project to boost economic growth and tourism in both cities.

Salem Mayor Cyndi Dickey and Columbiana Mayor Rick Noel have been working for months to develop a loop between the two cities to grow the local economy and tourism while providing an opportunity for free transportation for those visiting the cities.

The two cities will be hosting two events on Saturday, June 7, with Salem hosting the Super Cruise and Columbiana hosting its Wine Festival at Firestone Farms.

Both cities' tourism boards have partnered to sponsor the Quakertown Trolley to transport guests from one event to the other free of charge. Additionally, riders will get discounted admission to the Wine Festival.

The Quakertown Trolley will begin its route at the rear parking lot of Salem City Hall. It will then make its way to the Salem Tractor Supply parking lot and make its first trip to Columbiana at 3 p.m. stopping near the Homestead Restaurant.

Riders will be dropped off at the Columbiana Wine Festival and riders wanting to go to the Salem Super Cruise will be picked up there with the trolley leaving for Salem at 4 p.m.

The Salem Super Cruise will take place June 5-8 and will feature entertainment, food and artisan vendors and all kinds of cars. The event is free and open to the public.

Meanwhile the Columbiana Wine Festival will take place June 7 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will feature entertainment, food, vendors and wine tasting. Admission is $40, but trolley riders can get in for $30.

Guests who do not want to participate in the wine tasting can get a designated driver ticket for only $10.

A complete itinerary for the trolley can be found below.

- 3 p.m.: Departing Salem City Hall (rear parking lot), proceeding to Salem Tractor Supply and Homestead at Firestone Farms in Columbiana.

- 4 p.m.: Departing Homestead in Columbiana.

- 5 p.m.: Departing Salem City Hall (rear parking lot), proceeding to Salem Tractor Supply and Homestead at Firestone Farms in Columbiana.

- 6 p.m.: Departing Homestead in Columbiana.

- 7 p.m.: Departing Salem City Hall (rear parking lot), proceeding to Salem Tractor Supply and Homestead at Firestone Farms in Columbiana.

- 8 p.m.: Departing Homestead in Columbiana. Last trip to Salem.

- 9 p.m.: Departing Salem City Hall (rear parking lot), proceeding to Salem Tractor Supply and Homestead at Firestone Farms in Columbiana. Last trip to Columbiana.

All riders whose final destination is Columbiana, must have made a return ride no later than the 9 p.m. trip from Salem. All riders whose final destination is to Salem from Columbiana must have made their return ride no later than 8:00 PM.

The local shuttle in Salem will run one last trip from Salem City Hall to Salem Tractor Supply parking lot at 10 p.m.
