According to a post by the Ohio Division of Natural Areas and Preserves, people in Ohio are being encouraged to kill an invasive bug.
The lanternfly or the Lycorma Delicatula, is an invasive insect that is known for fast reproduction and damaging crops.
They were first spotted in the United States back in 2020.
The lanternfly can be recognized by their unique wings. The outer wing is tan with black spots, while the inner wing is red with black spots.
The bugs feed from grapevines, hops, trees and shrubs.
The Ohio Division of Natural Areas and Preserves said that if you come across this bug, feel free to squish, crush or stomp on them.
