700 miles, 11 lives: Animal Charity's weekend animal transfer

There was little time off for Animal Charity of Ohio workers over the long holiday weekend.

The organization took the time to complete its second longest distance transfer, transporting 11 animals over 700 miles to the Lehigh Valley Humane Society in Pennsylvania. The 11-hour round trip over the weekend aimed to create kennel space here in the Mahoning Valley and increase the chance of adoption for the animals.

Animal Charity transferred a total of 58 animals in May. Despite these transfers, Animal Charity of Ohio is still caring for nearly 250 animals.

"Transfers like this are a vital part of what we do," Animal Charity stated in a Facebook post. "They help us create kennel space, give animals better chances at adoption, and build a network of support between shelters and rescues around the country."

The charity emphasized the teamwork and dedication required for such operations, highlighting their commitment to going "the distance" for animals in need. They also expressed gratitude to the Lehigh Valley Humane Society for their support.

Animal Charity of Ohio encourages community members to assist their efforts through fostering, adoption, volunteering or donating.
