Boy dies after fall from float at Memorial Day Parade in Summit County

 A 13-year-old boy died Monday after falling from a parade float and being struck during Green's Memorial Day parade in Summit County.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office confirmed the death, stating the juvenile, whose name has not been released, was pronounced deceased at Akron Children's Hospital due to severe injuries.

The incident occurred around 11:23 a.m. when the boy fell off the front of a trailer being pulled by a pickup truck. He was then struck by the trailer's dual tires.

Green Fire Department EMS personnel, who were already on site for the parade, immediately responded and transported the child to the hospital.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident with assistance from the Summit Metro Crash team. The victim was a student in North Canton City Schools.
