A 4-year-old boy suffered at least two broken bones in one leg after falling from a second-story window Sunday evening in Cortland, according to a police report.

The child was initially taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown following the incident on Liberty Boulevard. He was later transferred to Akron Children's Hospital.

Cortland officers responded to the apartment building around 8:46 p.m. Saturday after a report of a child falling. The boy’s mother told police her son fell from his bedroom window. She indicated that Karmarion had a history of opening windows and leaning or hanging outside, and that similar incidents had occurred at a previous residence in Windham, though those were from first-floor windows.

A neighbor reported to police that a maintenance worker had taken a photograph of Karmarion hanging out the window just moments before the fall.

Police noted there were no signs of foul play. The Trumbull County Children Services Board has been notified and is investigating the incident. Children Services made sure all of the children were accounted for and will continue to follow up .

The child's mother tells 21 News she believes the matter has been blown out of proportion and is not an ongoing problem. She said the child was reenacting a scene from a Spiderman movie when he fell and that it was just an accident, not something that has occurred repeatedly, although she does not deny there had been a previous call after her children waved to someone while leaning out the window.

She said the child is doing well.
