Mercy Health Auxiliary Seeks Volunteers
For over 90 years, the St. Elizabeth Auxiliary has been a dedicated force of support for local hospitals and the Mahoning Valley community. The volunteer-led organization supports both St. Elizabeth Youngstown and St. Elizabeth Boardman hospitals through fundraising.
Throughout the year, the Auxiliary hosts several fundraising events including shoe, uniform, book, and gift sales with all proceeds going toward purchasing much needed hospital equipment. Recent contributions have supported the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic with talking scales, provided educational materials for diabetes patients, and funded televisions for the dialysis unit.
In addition to fundraising, many members give back by using their crafting skills. Volunteers handknit or crochet baby blankets for newborns and new moms, and they also make special abdominal pillows to help surgery patients recover more comfortably.
The Auxiliary is actively seeking new volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, not just retirees. From teachers and accountants to homemakers, anyone with a little time and a heart to give is encouraged to get involved.
If you are interested in volunteering, please call either St. Elizabeth Boardman or St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospitals main number, ask for Volunteer Services, and leave your name and contact information.
