Mercer County Food Bank invites community to 'Stuff the Truck' Saturday

The Mercer County Food Bank is inviting the community to help "Stuff the Truck" to feed the community Saturday, May 31.

Mercer County Food Bank's truck will be parked at D'Onofrio's at 1749 North Hermitage Road Saturday, May 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. accepting non-perishable food items.

The most needed items include canned proteins, vegetables, fruits, peanut butter, cereal and pasta.

According to a press release from the food bank, 14.5% of Mercer County's population including 4,600 children (22% of the population) are considered food insecure, meaning they don't always know where their next meal will come from.

Mercer County Food Bank Executive Director Rebecca Page says all food donations will remain in Mercer County to supplement the food bank's efforts during these uncertain times.
