An inmate at a Youngstown prison is dead after he was found unresponsive in his living area on Tuesday.
A representative for the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center, otherwise known as CoreCivic told 21 news the inmate was found laying unresponsive in his living area shortly before 11:30 Tuesday night.
Medical staff showed up and performed lifesaving measures and took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The name of the inmate has not been released yet.
It is unknown at this time what caused the death or if any foul play is suspected.
In the meantime, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction was contacted and the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the death.
