The Niles Municipal Court has received more than $27,000 worth of grant funds to implement electronic filing.
The $27,658 will allow for the implementation of electronic filing for both attorney and non-attorney use.
Judge Christopher Shaker said in a press release that this comes as the Ohio Supreme Court is mandating courts throughout Ohio to implement an e-filing portal for electronic filing and eventual paperless filing.
However, the court will continue to accept in-person and mailed paper filings for those without access to a computer. Judge Shaker says many customers still prefer to file the old-fashioned way.
"Many of our customers prefer the old-fashioned filing with personal service from our clerks," Shaker said.
