Window World in Youngstown has announced that its service dog Liberty is taking the next step in her journey to become a life-changing companion for a U.S. veteran at the end of June.
After nearly a year of basic training under the care and guidance of Window World Youngstown's Accounting Director Trish Powers, Liberty will be heading to Long Island, New York to continue her specialized training through America's VetDogs.
She is expected to graduate in the fall of 2025 and be matched with a veteran in need.
Liberty, a black Labrador and golden retriever mix specially bred to serve as a service dog, joined the Youngstown team in August 2024 as part of a nationwide initiative by Window World in partnership with America's VetDogs which provides guide, service, PTSD and facility dog to veterans, active-duty service members and first responders with disabilities.
The program was created to give Window World franchisees the opportunity to raise and prepare service dogs for veterans and first responders. Window World Youngstown was honored to be chosen as one of the participating locations.
Mandi Fluck, Marketing Director Window World Youngstown, says it was an "absolute joy" to have Liberty in the office each day.
"We've all watched her grow, learn, and blossom into such as well-behaved and loving dog. She's going to be an incredible companion for the veteran she is ultimately matched with. We can't wait to see where her next adventure takes her," Fluck said.
Liberty has made her way to North Wilkesboro Speedway with Window World's NASCAR races, supported veterans at Pocono Speedway's Veterans Village and appeared on news stations across Window World locations.
Window World Youngstown is filled with pride knowing Liberty will soon be supporting a veteran, helping them reclaim independence and confidence in their daily life.
