It's a new era for medical care in Mercer County as the former Sharon Regional Medical Center facility has officially unveiled its new logo and name.

The hospital, now known as Sharon Regional Health System, held a ribbon cutting Thursday morning to celebrate the changes.

In early January, the hospital shut down after Steward Health Care System's bankruptcy.

The hospital reopened on March 18 under the ownership of the Tenor Health Foundation and all inpatient services have been restored.

Tenor Health Foundation's founder and chairman said she's happy to be able to provide healthcare to the Shenango Valley.

"When we're walking the halls, people are just happy we have reopened and want to continue to use us and want us to be here for the long term," Radha Savitala said. "That's why we have these grants coming so we can make changes to the physical plan, get new equipment and make upgrades, especially in the Cath Lab."

Sharon Regional Health System also opened an offsite lab Thursday and are waiting for the full Cath Lab to reopen.

"Patients have never been happier," Savitala said. "They say the staff looks happy and the physicians are the quality is great."
