A Sharon man accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl faces a formal arraignment in Mercer County Common Pleas Court in July, following a hearing before a district magistrate.
Meco Christopher Dwayne Brown, 43, will appear before The Honorable Ronald D. Amrhein Jr. in Courtroom 2 at 9 a.m. July 29.
Brown is charged with 15 felony counts, all of which were held for Common Pleas Court following a preliminary hearing on Friday before Magisterial District Judge Travis P. Martwinski. The charges stem from alleged incidents on May 12, 2025.
Brown was taken into custody by Sharon City Police on May 23 after an investigation began May 12 when a relative reported concerns of sexual abuse. The alleged victim later disclosed during a forensic interview at the Mercer County Children's Advocacy Center that Brown had sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions — once when she was 9, and again at Brown's home on King Street.
The charges include two counts each of rape by forcible compulsion, rape of an unconscious victim, rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with an unconscious person, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, and three counts of sexual assault.
Brown remains held at Mercer County Prison. His bail was reduced from $150,000 to $100,000 at the May 30 hearing.
