The Mercer County Food Bank will be bringing back "Myron's Meal Mobile" for the fifth consecutive year to provide food to those in need during the summer, starting June 9.
"Hunger does not take a summer vacation, and 4,600 children in our county (22%) don't know where their next meal will come from," said Executive Director of Mercer County Food Bank Rebecca Page.
Myron's Meal Mobile is a retrofitted school bus that intends to bring free, hot, nutritious and balanced lunches to families in need. It is part of the food bank's summer meal program.
The bus will be moving between lower-income areas in Mercer County every day to provide these meals.
Below is Myron's Meal Mobile's schedule throughout the week and where it will be.
The program will run for ten weeks, starting on June 9 and ending on August 15. Mercer County Food Bank states in a media release that they have served over 21,000 meals from the food bus and expect to serve 6,000 meals over these ten weeks alone.
"This is just a great way for the food bank to give back to our community when school's not in session," said Mercer County Food Bank Development Director Alexis Spence-Locke.
