The Pollock Foundations have made a contribution to Youngstown State University's "Kilcawley: Centered on the Future" campaign.
The Pollock Foundations donated $100,000 in support of the outdoor terrace at Kilcawley Center, which is part of the "Centered on the Future" campaign.
This terrace will create a new multi-use space where students can gather and relax, as well as engage with campus life in the heart of the university.
"This new outdoor terrace will enhance student life and provide a vibrant gathering place that reflects the spirit of the community that the Pollock family has long championed," said YSU President Bill Johnson.
The Foundations have made multiple contributions to YSU over the years including $150,000 in 2022 for the construction of the Andrews Recreation and Wellness Center and $250,000 in 2008 for the construction of the new Williamson College of Business and Administration building.
In all, the Pollock Foundations' total contributions to YSU now exceeds $1 million.
The Pollocks' connection to YSU dates back to 1949 when Mary Wick Pollock gifted the family home to the university. That family home has since served many roles at the university including as classrooms, administrative offices and a boutique inn. It currently serves as the house of the university president.
"The Pollock Foundations' latest gift is yet another reflection of a long and meaningful legacy. Their support continues to shape the student experience and the campus landscape and we are proud to celebrate their contributions with the new outdoor terrace," said "Centered on the Future" Campaign Chair Scott Schulick.
