A lawsuit has been filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, against the Cleveland-based company Zoetic Global, which was planning to open a refrigerant plant in Youngstown.
According to the court filing, a Texas man has filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Zoetic Global seeking $1.6 million.
The filing states that Len Lacy is seeking compensatory and consequential damages, as well as post-judgment interest.
The filing states that Lacy first became involved with the company in 2019 when he contributed $10,000; however, the lawsuit claims that this was followed by "increasing promises, shifting responsibilities, and mounting frustrations."
The lawsuit states that Lacy participated in a video call with Zoetic Global leadership, including Avery Hong and Jerome Ringo to discuss a one percent stake in the company and potential consulting opportunities.
The lawsuit alleges that the company began associating itself with well-known institutions and public figures.
In 2022, Lacy served as President of Zoetic for the company and spearheaded the setup of the Ohio location.
Lacy alleged that by March of 2023, his costs and expenses in his role with the company had begun depleting his savings.
The lawsuit is seeking $1,600,908, which includes base compensation under his employment agreement and $400,908 in damages.
