It's been ten years since the murder of Cody Pitts, a crime that turned the Hubbard community upside down.
Police are still trying to find the evidence that could put Pitt's killer behind bars.
In our 21 News Midday Crimestoppers segment, which aired Thursday afternoon, a detective on the case joined Matt Stone with an update.
Hubbard Police say they're still passionately dedicated to finding answers in the unsolved Cody Pitts murder case.
Pitts was shot in the head while walking along Orchard Avenue in the early hours of March 7th, 2015.
"I'm not sure the public is quite aware but we've had a suspect from day one. The original investigators developed a suspect since day one. We've conducted a lot of interviews and we have a lot of testimonial evidence but we need a little bit more," said Det. Sgt. Michael Banic.
Police are asking for the public's help in locating the gun believed to be used to kill the 26 year old. They think it could still be in the area. Maybe even sold somewhere.
"If you bought a Walther P-22 at the Niles gun show, check the serial number it's l404221. (Matt Stone: 'So you think the gun might be out there and someone could own this gun and not know it could have been used in the crime?') It's possible," said Det. Sgt. Banic.
If you know anything about the gun, or have any other information about the case, call Hubbard city police or Crimestoppers at 330-746-CLUE.
Cody Pitts' family and CrimeStoppers have increased the reward in the case to 25-thousand dollars, for information leading to an arrest.
