Car crashes into telephone pole, shuts down Route 224 in Boardman

A car went off US Route 224 and struck a power pole in Boardman on Sunday.

The crash resulted in the closure of both directions of US RT 224 between Salinas Trail and Glenwood Avenue until the accident was cleared by first responders on the scene.

Power was out for several hours as a result.

According to the State Highway Patrol, the driver was transported to the hospital after suffering head injuries, but the severity is unclear.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
