Three cotton swab products recalled by manufacturer for potential fungal contamination

Three different cotton swab products from Zicam and Orajel are being recalled nationwide by the manufacturer for a potential microbial contamination that was identified as fungi.

Church & Dwight Co. has decided to recall all of Zicam's Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs and AllClear Swabs, along with Orajel's Baby Teething Swabs, within their expiry dates.

This is due to the discovery of a fungus that poses a life-threatening risk to consumers with a weakened immune system, children and those with a compromised nasal mucosa (inner nostrils), with the potential of blood infections.

Those who have purchased any of those three products are advised to cease using them and either call Church & Dwight's Consumer Relations Team (800-941-4710) or visit its recall site here for a full refund.

Any consumer feeling any adverse effects from using these products can complete a report at the link here. Consumers can also download the form and either mail it or fax it to Church & Dwight at 1-800-FDA-0178.

Below are the bar codes for the Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs, AllClear Swabs and Baby Teething Swabs, respectively.
