A trial is underway in Mercer County for a Farrell man accused of a deadly shooting at a social club last year. The trial is continuing today, Tuesday.
Trial began Monday for 24-year-old Yishmael Lee, who is charged with murder and two counts of assault in the death of 22-year-old Lay'Onte Hammonds, who was shot on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at the Twin Elks Lodge in Farrell.
Authorities say the shooting followed a fight. Witnesses told investigators that during the struggle, another man hit Hammonds, which allowed Lee to get free. Lee then allegedly shot Hammonds, who later died.
Lee turned himself in to the authorities on May 28, 2024. He has remained held without bond in the Mercer County Jail since his arrest.
