A soda brand from Youngstown’s past is returning. Sweet Memories Vintage Tees announced it is bringing back Golden Age Beverage, a soda brand established in Youngstown in 1932. The company plans to reintroduce the brand’s flavors, which were once available in the region.
“The Golden Age is back,” said Linda Barton, owner of Sweet Memories Vintage Tees. “At Sweet Memories, we believe in the power of nostalgia and the importance of preserving local history. When the opportunity arose for this Golden Opportunity, we knew it was the perfect fit for our mission of keeping memories alive.”
Golden Age Beverage was available during a time when soda was sold in glass bottles and served at soda fountains. The brand became recognized in the area.
Sweet Memories Vintage Tees plans to offer the brand with a design inspired by its past. The Golden Age lineup will include ginger ale, black bing cherry, grape, orange cream, raspberry fizz, and root beer.
Sweet Memories Vintage Tees will offer samples of the original Golden Age lineup during its third annual Father’s Day Root Beer Tasting Event on June 14 and 15. The event will include root beer tasting, a 10% discount on some 6-packs of soda, buy-one-get-one-free Dum-Dums Tees, a dad joke competition, and a raffle. The Golden Age soda will not be eligible for the 10% discount.
The official launch event for Golden Age Beverage will take place on June 21 and 22 at Sweet Memories Vintage Tees, 1282 Trumbull Ave., Liberrty. The event will feature tastings of the full Golden Age collection and the introduction of "FOUNDING Flavors," a limited-edition soda series.
The beverages will be sold at Sweet Memories Vintage Tees and at other retailers.
“We are dedicated to honoring the spirit and legacy of Golden Age Beverage,” Barton said. “Each sip captures the essence of the vintage soda flavors that once defined an era, with a nod to the family-owned bottling traditions—offering a fresh take on Youngstown’s heritage while staying true to its roots. It’s a taste of Youngstown’s heritage, reimagined for today.”
Sweet Memories Vintage Tees is inviting the community to the revival of Golden Age Beverage.
