Belmont Pines has announced the addition of a new position at the facility in the Trauma-Informed Care Champion, promoting Gary Hiner to the position.

"Trauma Informed Care is all about connection with those we serve through building stability, compassion, collaboration, empowerment and resiliency. We want to continue building a culture that challenges awareness of oneself and others," said Hiner

Hiner had previously been a case manager at the facility since 2023. He is a Thiel College graduate with a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and experience as a case manager and correctional officer prior to Belmont Pines.

Trauma-Informed Care is an approach to care that acknowledges a patient or clients lived experiences when relating to trauma as to better help them and others wanting to help them.

"When a flower doesn't bloom, you change the environment in which it grows; not the flower," said Hiner. "Change comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn't. To see real change you have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable and putting in the work and collectively healing."
