The Warren City Council has voted in favor of extending the road closure of Dana Street on Wednesday, June 11.

For the past seven years Dana Street has been closed by the city council though continuous 90-day closure extensions as part of the Golden Triangle redevelopment project.

Wednesday night's vote extended this closure for at least another 90 days.

Originally this was due to safety concerns of large equipment crossing the road frequently due to construction in Christopher Alan's AUTOParkit facility, an integral piece of the Golden Triangle project.

However, several council members are growing tired of the repeated extensions and are in favor of a long-term solution, either by reopening the street or potentially closing it permanently.

Council members Tiffany Stanford, Honeya Price, Todd Johnson and Andrew Herman all voted against permanently closing the street.

Much of the discussion rests on Alan's development plans for the AUTOParkit facility.

Councilwoman Helen Rucker says that as of yet the council has not seen the full development plans, but that she expects to by the end of the next 90 days.
