A Kent woman indicted last year in connection with the theft of 21 firearms from a Mahoning County home was sentenced Wednesday to six months in jail.
Ciara Tillison, 32, pleaded guilty in January to one count of burglary and nine counts of grand theft of firearms. Nine other charges were dismissed as part of her plea agreement.
Tillison was indicted on gun theft charges stemming from a November 2022 burglary at a home in Springfield Township. According to court filings, Tillison opened a safe and removed 21 guns from a home on Youngstown Pittsburgh Road.
A Struthers Court complaint stated that in January 2024, Springfield police spoke with Tillison about the theft. The report noted Tillison told investigators she was given the combination to the safe by a woman living with the homeowner at the time. Tillison reportedly said she and two others went to the home, and that one of the other individuals with her gave the weapons to two others.
A warrant was issued for Tillison's arrest in May.
As part of her plea agreement, Tillison also made a court-ordered restitution payment of $6,270.
