Packard Park in Warren has unveiled new additions to its playground equipment, and has opened up the newly upgraded park to guests at the park's ribbon cutting on Thursday.

The newest addition to the park is a bankshot court, featuring sets of basketball hoops designed for younger children.

The hoops have varying heights and have several backboard shapes.

In addition to guests being able to experience the upgraded playground equipment, eight new pickleball courts were unveiled at the ribbon cutting.

Warren Safety Services Director Eddie Colbert told 21 News that all of the playground equipment upgrades cost $205,000.

Colbert said that $180,000 in funding comes from SEP funds and the other $25,000 comes from a Swanston grant.

Trish Johnston, Special Projects Coordinator for the City of Warren, told 21 News that it was very necessary to upgrade the equipment at the park.

"The old equipment had some damage to it, some water damage, some safety issues. So it was really important that we upgraded the equipment," said Johnston.

Colbert told 21 News that the new installations will be an asset to the splash pad located at the park.

Beginning on May 27, the splash pad opened up again for its 2025 season.

Packard Park is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. The park will close for the season on September 6, 2025.
