A bond hearing scheduled today for a Youngstown mayoral candidate accused of domestic violence has been canceled.

No reason was given as to why the hearing for John White in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court was called off. White has been held in the Trumbull County jail since his arrest on June 3.

Judge Sarah Thomas Kovoor revoked White's bond earlier this month after prosecutors alleged he violated the terms of his release, including contacting the victim despite a no-contact order.

According to a motion filed May 30 by Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Gabe Wildman, the alleged violations began shortly after White was first released on bond. The motion claims White repeatedly called the victim, deactivated her cell phone service, and hacked into her accounts to change passwords.

The allegations led to an initial warrant for White's arrest. He turned himself in on May 16, and Judge Jeffrey Adler continued his bond with additional terms at that time.

However, the prosecution's motion states that further alleged violations occurred. White reportedly went to someone's home, asked about the victim, and allegedly said he would "burn the whole city down before he let somebody take her away from him." Days later, the victim allegedly began receiving "cryptic texts" from an unknown number. These texts reportedly used a nickname White uses for her and referenced her whereabouts and activities, leading her to believe she was being stalked. One text reportedly included a slogan from White's mayoral campaign.

These alleged violations led to another warrant for White's arrest on May 30, resulting in his current incarceration since June 3.

White's case originated from an alleged incident on May 2. Police reports indicate White became upset after learning he was ineligible to run for Youngstown mayor. He allegedly asked the victim to run for him, and when she refused, he reportedly threw items around the house, threw her car keys onto the roof when she tried to leave, and threw her phone into a ditch, causing a 911 call to be disconnected. White denied throwing the phone, claiming it slipped
