A man from Liberty Township was arrested Thursday after a Trumbull County grand jury secretly indicted him for rape and gross sexual imposition.

Isaiah Short, 21, whose address is listed as Hadley Avenue, was booked into the Trumbull County Jail, where he remains held without bail.

According to court documents, Short faces two charges of first-degree felony rape and two charges of fourth-degree felony gross sexual imposition. The accusations stem from alleged incidents that happened around Nov. 27, 2024, in Girard.

For the first rape charge, the grand jury's indictment claims Short had sexual contact with someone by forcing them or threatening to force them to participate. The second rape charge alleges Short engaged in sexual contact with a person who couldn't resist or agree because of a mental or physical condition, and that Short was aware of this condition or should have been.

Regarding the gross sexual imposition charges, the third count states Short had sexual contact with someone and made them submit by force or threat of force. The fourth count claims Short had sexual contact with someone who couldn't resist or agree due to a mental or physical condition, and Short knew or should have known about this impairment.

Assistant Trumbull County Prosecutor Gabe Wildman tells 21 News that the alleged victim is intellectually disabled.

Short is expected to appear in court before Judge Ronald J. Rice in the Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas. A specific date for his next court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
