Changes are coming to two of the 21 News newscasts.
Beginning Monday, June 30th, Sydney Canty will co-anchor the 11 p.m. news with Derek Steyer. Sydney will also continue her role as a multimedia journalist reporting on news stories throughout the Mahoning Valley.
Sydney has been with 21 News for 5 years. She has gone from being a self-made reporter who used her cell phone to shoot news stories in Detroit to being part of an Emmy-nominated half-hour program that looked into human trafficking, "101 West: Invisible Chains."
Sydney has anchored WFMJ Weekend Today for three years and, throughout that time, has conducted numerous in-depth live interviews with public officials, business leaders, and community leaders.
Sydney is a Detroit native with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Wayne State University.
Beginning Sunday, June 29th, Leslie Huff will anchor the later morning edition of WFMJ Weekend Today. Like Sydney, Leslie will also continue her role as a multimedia journalist during the week.
Leslie has been a multimedia journalist with 21 News for three years. Leslie interned with 21 News and soon landed a full-time reporting job. You may have seen some of Leslie's anchoring recently, as she has been filling in on various newscasts.
Leslie is a Valley native. She is from Hubbard and graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
